Poll – Guitar Setup

With so many guitar purchases now being transacted online, we wanted to find out how guitar buyers approach the subject of a guitar setup. Fewer and fewer online stores offer this service, so we want to know how (and if) you feel a “setup” on a new guitar is necessary, and if so, how you get one done.

We posed this question on social media a few months back, and now we’d like a tally of the most common answers we received. We’d love your vote in the poll below!

honestly, i expect, i ABSOLUTELY EXPECT, any guitar i buy from any retailer anywhere, online or not, used or not, to have an acceptable setup and nice strings (they cost the shop, what? $2? probably LESS? just throw in a free set) at the time of purchase or to have that service provided free of charge by the retailer at the time of purchase… anything less is utterly unprofessional…

i’ve been lucky so far with my two online purchases, they arrived in fine shape and haven’t needed setup…

and this is why when i’m looking online i always check out Riff City… i haven’t purchased a guitar from you, yet, but you have an incredible reputation for delivering a product that’s clean, fresh, and ready to rock… public opinion of your store is high enough for me to trust you to deliver the quality i expect and i need that assurance if i’m spending that kind of money on a guitar i haven’t seen with my own eyes and played with my own hands… and i think you get that, it’s pretty simple, right? you know you’re asking me to spend several hundred dollars on something people are very particular about and that’s why you offer the service for free with purchase, you know you NEED that rep, you need people to unbox from Riff City and be super-stoked, you know that kind of rep is good for your business…

That is what I’ve always loved about Riff City Guitars. The set up was spot on every time!
